Vimukt Jati Seva Samiti run Gramin (Arts, Commerce and Science) Mahavidyalaya Vasantnagar was established in 1991 by Karmaveer Kishanraoji Rathod Saheb with the aim of development of nomadic free castes and tribes as well as scheduled castes and tribes.
Department of Sociology was started in 1991 in the college. Head of Department of Sociology Prof. Karad A. G. This was He tried to develop the various talents of the students through this department with a view to raising the social level of the district and to create social awareness among the students by taking various component programs like social structure, problems and solutions and he retired on 31/08/2018.
At present many values are declining in the social system. In accordance with the overall development of students in rural areas, various programs like de-addiction, women's empowerment, village cleanliness, health awareness are implemented through this department.
